Which test do you need?
ANSI A326.3: This American National Standard is widely adopted in Canada for measuring the dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF) of hard-surface flooring materials, such as ceramic and porcelain tiles. The standard often requires a minimum wet DCOF of 0.42 for level interior spaces expected to be walked upon when wet.
The BOT-3000E Tribometer is the industry-leading, digital, and motorized device used to measure the dynamic (DCOF) and static coefficient of friction on hard surface flooring, both in laboratory and field settings. It is the only device specifically approved for compliance with ANSI A326.3, the American National Standard for measuring slip resistance on hard surface flooring.
What a BOT-3000E Audit Does
A BOT-3000E audit, or slip-resistance test, provides objective, scientific data to identify and mitigate slip-and-fall hazards, complying with the OSHA General Duty Clause.
-
Standards Covered: ANSI A326.3, ASTM F2508 (calibration), and ASTM F1694-14.
-
Surfaces Tested: Ceramic/porcelain, marble, granite, polished concrete, terrazzo, VCT, and LVT.
-
Conditions: The device measures both wet and dry conditions, often using a specific solution (e.g., SLS) for wet testing.
The Audit Process (Step-by-Step)
Your valid audit is done by Maximum floor Safety' trained personnel and strict adherence to protocol:
Our Walkway auditors are certified by the National Floor Safety Institute to operate and build reports using the BOT 3000E
-
Calibration Verification: Before testing, the device must be verified to have been calibrated by the manufacturer within the last 365 days.
-
Sensor Preparation: An SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) sensor is used, which must be sanded and conditioned to remove wear patterns before tests.
-
Testing Protocol: The machine acts as a motorized drag-sled, removing human error. It tests the floor and records data.
-
Data Recording: The device records time, date, location (using unique codes), and specific slip-resistance results.
-
Reporting: A detailed report is generated of the test location, and statistical analysis
-
Reports will be submitted via e-mail within one week at the beginning of each month
-
Any high risk areas will be noted and submitted the same day
-
Tests will be performed on an unannounced basis for impartiality
Floor Slip Resistance Testing Services
Floor Slip Resistance Testing Lab: The charge for tile to be tested in our lab is $300.00. We run testing with the BOT-3000E to give you more data to make a more informed choice before installing a potentially slippery flooring.
On-Site Floor Slip Resistance Testing Services
Field Slip Resistance Testing: The price for testing at your location (field floor slip resistance testing services) is based on the size and type of materials Most materials will require two test to be taken per tile due to the directional bias of the materials. In-field testing starts at $1375.00*
*depending on how many tests are required
